About

Hi, I’m Efren Bautista Jr. and I write Zwinglian to share and help web developers designers or any type of viewers on web developing, designing and express my other thoughts as well. I started Zwinglian in 2008 to publish my skills in Php, Asp, C#, Ajax, SQL and other web developing tools that i know . Prior to web developing, I spent over 2 years as an Instructor, in a University here in our place. To contact me, please email efrenbautistajr@yahoo.com.ph or visit my under construction site until now, :D  efrenbautistajr.freehostia.com.

    Answer: World Wide Web

    7. At what age did Bill Gates become interested in computing?
Answer: i think it was in 1994 for bill gates vision?

What was his early vision of computing?
    Answer: he invented PORNO

BTW – Gates did not invent the computer. He did develop software BASIC.

    10. She is credited with being the first computer programmer. Name her. Use your Internet research skills to ascertain the answer.
    Answer: Augusta Ada Byron

    11. Grace Murray Hopper invented the first computer compiler. What does she say about information and knowledge?
Answer: On information and knowledge, “We are flooding people with information. We need to feed it through a processor. A human must turn information into intelligence or knowledge. We’ve tended to forget that no computer will ever ask a new question”

    14. How was the Homebrew Computer Club important in computing history?
Answer : The Homebrew Computer Club was an early computer hobbyist club in Silicon Valley, which met (under that name) from March 1975 to roughly 1977. Several very high-profile hackers and IT entrepreneurs emerged from its ranks, including the founders of Apple Computer.
Is there a similar group in your school or community? Yes

    15. In 1977, Dennis C. Hayes invented a computer component that is essential to computer communication.
What did he invent? PC Modem
What does his device do? Modem (from modulator-demodulator) is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the transmitted information. The goal is to produce a signal that can be transmitted easily and decoded to reproduce the original digital data. Modems can be used over any means of transmitting analog signals, from driven diodes to radio.

    16. Jack Kilby invented the integrated circuit.
What device did he go on to invent that helped people value the power of his IC’s?
    Answer : Transistors

    a. Leonard Kleinrock at MIT published the first paper on packet switching theory in July 1961 and the first book on the subject in 1964. Kleinrock convinced Roberts of the theoretical feasibility of communications using packets rather than circuits, which was a major step along the path towards computer networking. The other key step was to make the computers talk together. To explore this, in 1965 working with Thomas Merrill, Roberts connected the TX-2 computer in Mass. to the Q-32 in California with a low speed dial-up telephone line creating the first (however small) wide-area computer network ever built. The result of this experiment was the realization that the time-shared computers could work well together, running programs and retrieving data as necessary on the remote machine, but that the circuit switched telephone system was totally inadequate for the job. Kleinrock’s conviction of the need for packet switching was confirmed.

    b. In late 1966 Roberts went to DARPA to develop the computer network concept and quickly put together his plan for the “ARPANET”, publishing it in 1967. At the conference where he presented the paper, there was also a paper on a packet network concept from the UK by Donald Davies and Roger Scantlebury of NPL. Scantlebury told Roberts about the NPL work as well as that of Paul Baran and others at RAND. The RAND group had written a paper on packet switching networks for secure voice in the military in 1964. It happened that the work at MIT (1961-1967), at RAND (1962-1965), and at NPL (1964-1967) had all proceeded in parallel without any of the researchers knowing about the other work. The word “packet” was adopted from the work at NPL and the proposed line speed to be used in the ARPANET design was upgraded from 2.4 kbps to 50 kbps. 5

    Answer : Machinery And Computing.

    19. Linus Torvalds developed a basic operating system for computers called Linux.
What did he do with that OS (Operating System) that challenges companies that charge for their computer software?
Answer : Apart from the fact that it’s freely distributed, Linux’s functionality, adaptability and robustness, has made it the main alternative for proprietary Unix and Microsoft operating systems. IBM, Hewlett-Packard and other giants of the computing world have embraced Linux and support its ongoing development. Well into its second decade of existence, Linux has been adopted worldwide primarily as a server platform. Its use as a home and office desktop operating system is also on the rise. The operating system can also be incorporated directly into microchips in a process called “embedding” and is increasingly being used this way in appliances and devices.
